The German Cockroach is not German but rather African. It favours the hotter climate of its homeland so here in Auckland it tends to seek out hotter spots to infest: like Hot water cylinders, wiring and fridge motors. It is the most common cockroach to infest both domestic housing and industry. It has wings but rarely uses them. It is about 1.3cm full grown. It is mat brown and identifiable by the two black stripes on the back of its protonum (looks like it head).
The German cockroach is an excellent surviver and often gives less experienced pest controllers a run for their money. If you are having problem with cockroaches in Auckland give us a call.
