Spider Control Auckland

Spider control is not straight forward in Auckland due to the nomadic nature of the White tail spider. Most spiders (Arachnids) are nocturnal. They are predators and will enter into human dwellings in search of food or to set up webs. The webs are extremely hardy and will often sit for many years gathering dust if unattended. These webs and spiders inside dwellings build up over time and can become unsightly and are also a food source for White Tail spiders.

In New Zealand we have few venomous spiders. We have the Katipo spider which is venomous but is generally only found near the coast, often in tussocky areas. Here in Auckland the White Tailed spider is an ongoing issue. The spider is venomous and bites can be painful. It is not the venom of the spider but the bacteria it carrys that is thought to be the cause of more serious problems. These bacteria are thought to cause ulceration and sometimes necrosis. This has lead to the fearful reputation of the white tail spider bite.

A successful treatment for White tail spiders should remove remove all spiders and so remove the food source of the spiders as well as protect against them.

For all spider treatments, we recommend an exterior spray to accompany the interior treatment. This "widens the net" in terms of eradicating both spiders from inside and nearby spiders that will eventually spread to inside the house.
